What's strange though is that I did a full uninstall through Synaptic, including "configuration files"....so configure shouldn't be picking up old Lyx installation files, right?
Typing 'lyx -sysdir /usr/local/share/lyx' doesn't change the behavior; I still get a blank document with no toolbars. ~ Eric. -----Original Message----- From: Richard Heck [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tue 10/30/2007 7:39 PM To: Richard Heck Cc: Patton, Eric; LyX Users List Subject: Re: Missing toolbars in Lyx 1.5.2 Richard Heck wrote: > Patton, Eric wrote: >> Just to clarify, I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 on a PC; I'm not using a Mac. > Oh, sorry, I'm not sure why I thought you were on a Mac. It's just $datadir/lyx, where $datadir is set by ./configure and defaults to $PREFIX/share. Here's mine: [EMAIL PROTECTED] lyx15]$ ls /usr/local/share/lyx bind CREDITS fonts lyx2lyx tex chkconfig.ltx doc images scripts ui configure.py encodings kbd symbols unicodesymbols configure.pyc examples languages syntax.default configure.pyo external_templates layouts templates As I said, though, I suspect your problem is an old version of LyX in /usr/share, and that LyX is finding those libraries when it starts, and is choking. rh -- ================================================================== Richard G Heck, Jr Professor of Philosophy Brown University http://frege.brown.edu/heck/ ================================================================== Get my public key from http://sks.keyserver.penguin.de Hash: 0x1DE91F1E66FFBDEC Learn how to sign your email using Thunderbird and GnuPG at: http://dudu.dyn.2-h.org/nist/gpg-enigmail-howto
