"Hello world" is correct spelling, so all that should appear is a message box telling you "2 words checked". Probably this message box is hidden behind the main window. Is this the case? OTOH LyX 1.5.2 (and earlier) has a bug where the first word is skipped when the spellchecker is run for a second time. So you should see a flashing spell checker window on "Hello Worldd", but the spellchecker should stop at the second word when the new document contains "Helllo Worldd". This bug will be fixed in LyX 1.5.3. If it's none of these two issues, then we need more details. Jürgen
