You can also cut down on the number of periods that don't end
sentences by adopting the Oxford University Press house style: use the
period only when an abbreviation stops in the middle of the word. Thus
Mr, Ms, Mrs, and Dr, but Prof. Heck and Capt. Hook.
Since this is a book to be published by OUP, I guess I should do that!
Though, since it is a quote from (a translation of) Frege, I guess I
should keep it as "Mr. Dedekind". Hmm.
