Examples location on Mac OS X

Currently (on 1.5.3 an in trunk) the examples are located in LyX.app/ 
Contents/Resources/examples
Would it be possible/desireable to instead put them in ~/Library/ 
Application Support/LyX-1.x/examples ? They should be more accessible  
there. The directory already exists, but is empty.
