Making a wild guess, yes. I enjoy TeXLive without any hassle, so far. It is also supposed to be a complete and "modern" TeX distribution (as opposed to the "ancient" TeTeX). You might want to switch to it. If you do, follow the guide on Gentoo Wiki [1] (don't forget to read the External link before you do anything with your system).
