Hello LyX users,
I used LyX on Linux for a while and using kpdf I had the good
feature that
whenever I updated a DVI/PDF file, it would automatically reload on
the
viewer. I am now using MAC, and Texshop as viewer for DVI (It
actually seems
to convert the file to PDF before opening it, for some reason I don't
understand) and Acrobat professional as a viewer for PDF. None of
these have
the feature of watching the file for update. Could anyone recommend
a good
viewer for MAC that has this feature, for DVI and/or PDF?
I don't know if it works for .dvi files, but TeXShop will
automatically update .pdfs: TeXShop > Preferences > Preview >
Automatic Preview Update.
I use Skim (<http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/>) for most .pdf
viewing, including those produced by LyX. You can set automatic
updating in Skim > Preferences > Sync > Check for file changes. Skim
will ask you each time whether you want to reload the file; this can
be disabled using a hidden preference, as documented here:
<http://skim-app.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Hidden_Preferences>
There are .dvi viewers on Mac, but I never use them. You can check
the LyX/Mac wiki for a couple options: <http://wiki.lyx.org/Mac/
Mac#toc6>.
