I am using a tip on the LyX wiki for cross-referencing subfigures. http://wiki.lyx.org/Tips/SubfiguresAndCrossReferences
However, the subfigure captions don't seem to be including enough whitespace. The caption for subfigure (a) almost runs completely into the caption for subfigure (b). If I use short caption I don't get this problem and the captions are centered nicely under the figures.
