1.6svn does not seem to be able to read 1.5.x documents, says that they are from a different version of LyX but lyx2lyx can't convert them.
Could you please report this at bugzilla.lyx.org? Please attach a SMALL LyX 1.5 file to the bug report to be able to reproduce the problem.
