so the package i have installed which supplies the beramono font
is "texlive-fonts-extra"
i don't see an alternative package in the ubuntu repositories.
any idea why this font is not properly rendering inequality characters?

i've attached screenshots of the text i entered in a lyx editor
and of the resulting dvi file.
any idea how to fix this?
