Hussein, I haven't been in exactly your position, and I'm at work now where I'm not using Ubuntu, but I have Ubuntu (Kubuntu, actually) at home. I think the problem is that Ubuntu divides TeXlive into a lot of pieces, and I'll bet installing LyX just brings in the minimal package as a dependency. The simplest solution is to install texlive-full. But not the quickest: it's about a 500 Mb download. If that's a problem, look at all the texlive packages and pick out the ones you need. -- Les ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments.
