i can't use arabic in lyx, and i don't know why i can't. and when i import any "arabic tex" file i get unknown chracter. please see the attachment file (image + arabic.tex).
The problem is that our TeX file import program can still not use any other character encoding than "latin1". Fixing this was one of our goals for LyX 1.6.0 but due to lack of manpower we haven't reached this goal :-(
So the only thing you can do is to open the .tex file with an editor and copy/paste text parts to your LyX file.
So we have to admit that LyX is currently only really usable in non-European languages when you create your own LyX documents without importing TeX files.
Attached is a LyX file to be used with LyX1.6beta4 created from your TeX file. regards Uwe
