Maybe you have a subsection or unbalanced brackets in your float. What happens, if you insert an empty float in place of the offending? But it could also be something else between the float and the subsection environment or even in the latex preamble... When faced with this type of hard-localisable errors, I usually export the file to LaTeX and run latex by hand. Günter
