Currently I am preparing teaching materials for students. I found there are
some wonderful things in WIKI. I hope I can directly import them into my
materials. But the wiki page is not completely same as latex. For example,
If ''N'' is a discrete random variable taking values on some subset of the
non-negative [[integer|integers]], {''0,1, ...''}, then the
''probability-generating function'' of ''N'' is defined as:
:<math>G(x) = \textrm{E}(x^N) = \sum_{n=0}^{\infty}f_N(n)x^n,</math>
where ''fN'' is the probability mass function of ''N''. Note that
the equivalent notation ''G''''N'' is sometimes used to distinguish
between the probability-generating functions of several random variables.
In latex, "N" should be $N$, ''G''''N'' should be $G_N$.
Does anyone have idea on this matter?
Many thanks!
