This is just my experience, it might be useful:
I save the unused paragraph, but may be considered later,
including the
equations, in note : Insert> Note> LyX Note
When I need this, I can copy to the standard environment.
Or click in Disolve Inset. Is more easy than copy.
Or move the cursor at the very beginning of the note inset and hit
backspace.
