Thanks Everybody,
I figured it out! In Jabref, for multiple authors, you have to
separate each author's name with " and ". I was putting each author's
name on a separate line. I guess you need to know a little Bibtex!!!
Thanks again.

Hi All,
Thank you, Paul. I used Jabref to create a .bib file and used
Insert > List/TOC... to put it into Lyx. However, for multiple
authors, the names are screwed up in the reference and only the first
author is listed in the cite. For example, there are three authors of
this JoF article - Burkart, Panunzi and Schleifer.
Burkart, Mike Panunzi, F. S. A., Sep 2003. Family firms. Journal of
Finance
58 (5), 21672202.
The cite displays as (Burkart, 2003) instead of (Burkart et al., 2003)
Any tips?

Hi All,
I forgot to mention that I'm using Lyx 1.5.6.
I'm new to Lyx. I'm using the elsevier document class - elsart.cls.
It comes with Lyx so I didn't have to download any files. I checked and
the elsart files all seem to be there, as is the natbib package and
plainnat.bst. For the last two days I have been trying to get Lyx to
produce author-year citations. I went to document>settings>bibliography
and selected natbib and author-year. Here's an example.
Anderson, R. and D. Reeb. "Board Composition: Balancing Family Influence
in S&P 500 Firms", Working Paper, August, 2004
In the Bibliograhy Entry Settings dialog
board_comp -> Key
Anderson et al. (2004) -> Label
In the Citation dialog I ADD board_comp and choose Anderson et al.
(2004) as my Citation style. But when I run the .dvi file, the citation
is a number instead of author-year. I've even tried adding natbib
commands to the preamble, but no luck. I'm at my wit's end. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
