This is an old problem. If you want to use 1.5 and solve it, there is
some stuff on the wiki about how to do it:
http://wiki.lyx.org/Tips/ChildMathMacros. The first rule is that you
have to open the master first, THEN open the child.
LyX 1.6 resolves this problem, and several others related to macros.
