That works brilliantly, thanks. Now how do I get the inset label to be 
equal to the parameter (e.g. XYZ in \textsuperscript{XYZ})? Or should 
I be using a user defined char style (??) ?

The label can't be modified. You could try a charstyle. You could also 
try Decoration minimalistic.
