Hello Konrad, hello list, sorry for posting individually, I just entered "reply", so that my client mailed to Konrad directly, I did not do that on purpose.

But now, after reinstalling Aspell and installing various dictionaries several times (only the english one worked at the first time), at least the old german-dictionary (and english and spanish) works. I still did not get the new german dictionary working. > My aspell binary sits in > > $ which aspell > /usr/local/bin/aspell > > and my dictionaries sit in > > $ locate de.multi > /usr/local/lib/aspell-0.60/de.multi could you tell me where to find that exactly? I have to look in the developer folder, right? I do not find a folder named "local" there. Or do I have to look elsewhere? > > > and LyX finds them both automatically. > > If you just type "aspell" in terminal, it should tell you what dicts it > has. If this does not work, it's not installed properly. that´s what I get: Usage: aspell [options] <command> <command> is one of: -?|usage display a brief usage message help display a detailed help message -c|check <file> to check a file -a|pipe "ispell -a" compatibility mode [dump] config dumps the current configuration to stdout config <key> prints the current value of an option [dump] dicts | filters | modes lists available dictionaries / filters / filter modes [options] is any of the following: --encoding=<str> encoding to expect data to be in --mode=<str> filter mode -l,--lang=<str> language code -d,--master=<str> base name of the main dictionary to use --sug-mode=<str> suggestion mode I don´t see any dictionary here, although some are working. I also have an additional question here: On the wiki there is mentioned, that I have to do the following to save new words to the dictionary on my own: "If at this point you are unable to save new words to the personal dictionary you will need to edit the file at /usr/local/etc/aspell.conf. Remove the line "home-dir $HOME/Library/Preferences/aspell" (line 38 including blanks), or disable it by adding a "#" sign at the begining." Again I don´t know how to do that as I don´t find the appropriate folder. I do find usr in developer, but there is no folder with the name "local"… Thank you a lot for your help, now it works at least! Jess >
