Steve, If I were doing that, I'd put a blank page in my Lyx document (or perhaps a small version of the graphic, to make the last step easier), export as a PDF file, prepare the graphic as an 8.5 by 11 PDF page using whatever tool works for you, then replace the original page with the graphic page using pdftk.
