Hi lyx developers,

I present a feature idea and its extension with rapid document manipulation in mind.

I was experimenting with the lyx code and I found I could get a menu to popup upon right-clicking on the TOC. This can be used to insert xrefs for existing labels at the current cursor position in the document. With this the user need not invoke the insert-cross-reference dialog and can move ahead with editing the document rapidly.

I'd like to ask if you think this would be a nice-to-have feature.

Extending the above idea, we might imagine LyX prompting the user for a label if one doesn't exist when he/she right-clicks a TOC item (eg. in the list of graphics TOC). LyX could then insert that label at the appropriate place in the document, update the TOC and insert a reference to it at the current cursor location. Does this seem like a nice-to-have feature?

thanks,
Manoj
