I've the same problem on windows.
For me, it depends on the amount of different child documents I've
included.
Yes, that's right. The manual I'm currently editing has about 40 child
documents, nested up to 3 levels.
Do you by any chance have your documents stored on a network drive
or an
external drive ?
No, it's all on the internal disk.
