Dear list members

I need again your help.
In a document (Lyx1.6.1) I get an error message
TeX capacity exceeded
cite{a reference}{319}{13.5.3}{section*.37}
If you really absolutely need more capacity ...

I tried to remove the citation from the text for a later inspection what was
going wrong with it, by putting it in a yellow note-box and re-ran the
pdf-latex preview. It still gave the same error message. If I click on the
citation and in the lyx literature box click on the reference and try to
remove it (remove, ok) it is not removed.
Now, interestingly, the same happens also if I am removing the citation
completely from the text. I have to leave the lyx session and restart it
again in order to get rid of it.
I guess it has to do with the aux file which is still existing and contains
the citation it is chocking on.
[By the way, (I do not think it has to do with it) I am producing (and
inserting) the citations via a JabRef bib-file.]

It is annoying to have to restart the session for each removal. Is there a
better way?

Do not ask for a simple example, because there is none. It is a long document
of about 500 pages and many figures (~400) and it was written with one of the
1.5 versions of lyx and I wanted to update it using the (much more handy) lyx
1.6 version.

I have asked for the error I am getting regarding the citations before, it
seems to have to do with the Koma-book 2 column style and the braking of the
citations; a remedy is to put the offending citation on a slightly different
location. Having done this, it might happen afterward with a different
citation. It happens, if I have several citations together. So this is not
the issue, I know how do deal with it.
