persistent LaTeX source box

Hi,

I've been happily using LyX for several years, writing proposals, papers 
and dissertations, etc.  My RHEL5 system was just updated to LyX 1.6.3, 
and I find that the LaTeX Source box at the bottom of the screen is 
remarkably persistent.  Personally, I don't care about the LaTeX 
source--that's why I use LyX in the first place, so I would like to have 
this box not appear.  But whenever I open LyX, the box is present.  If I 
close the box, put LyX into fullscreen mode, then bring it back, the box 
reappears.

I've searched the mailing list, internal documenation, wiki, and general 
Google, but haven't been able to find instructions for something like 
"LyX make view LaTeX Source box off by default".  I was using 1.5.x (6 
maybe?) before and didn't have this problem.  Is there a checkbox or 
config option somewhere I'm missing?
