Hi,

when I open the same file twice in lyx, it behaves very strangely. It
crashes when I close the window which was second to be opened.

I would recommend checking upon file opening if the file is open
already and if so, bring it to the foreground.

Cheers,

Niko
Can you give an exact recipe ? As you are on MacOSX, I assume that Tools->Preferences->Open Document in Tabs is unchecked, is that correct ?

Although Open Documents in Tabs is unchecked, it is possible to still open documents in tabs, did you see this ? If so, you might have hit: http://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/5942.

If not, I just found: http://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/6188.

Else, you should try LyX1.6.4 (coming soon for MacOsX) in which we have fixed e.g., bug 6162, 5646.

I think I already found the bug. It originated while introducing a feature for Mac users with the commit log: "Present to Mac users: Session handling per document instead of per window when 'open document in tabs' is disabled." I hope it says more to you than it does to me. As a consequence we can have two views with the same ids if two the same files were opened.

I'll have to wait before fixing this, because I've no Mac, and I've no idea what this feature is.
