I found something useful:
\renewcommand{\cftXpresnum}{SOMETHING }
When I use it the SOMETHING word is overwriting the figures numbering. (Words
are put upon another).
I will do a little bit more of research and let you know if it worked. If you
have any guess...

In case you are not alreas a memoir or koma-script document class for your
document, I recommend to use the tocloft package.
