So the LaTeX package xifthen is not installed for your MiKTeX. To install it, open an Internet
connection, open your LyX file and view it as PDF (pdflatex). MiKTeX will then automatically install
all required LaTeX packages.
The next LyX version LyX 1.6.5 (that will be released next weekend) has better support for the Tufte
document classes. For now, you can download the latest Tufte layout and example files from here:
