Go to the LyX preferences and specify a viewer of your choice to the image formats you like to edit from within LyX. It is enough to specify "irfanview" as editor (in case the filename is irfanview.exe. Assure that the path to the irfanview.exe is in LyX's PATH prefix in the LyX preferences.
