I am writing a paper that includes several diagrams, each one with a somewhat lengthy caption. I use pdflatex and produce the images with Inkscape and save them as pdf. My problem is that the bitmaps LyX produces to show the images on screen (NOT on output) are so pixelated that it is impossible to figure out what's in them,
The preview of PDF is done via ImageMagick that calls Ghostscript. So you should assure that you are using a recent version of ImageMagick and Ghostscript (but not Ghostscript version 8.70 that contains a nasty bug). You should also use Inkscape 0.47 if possible because this is the first version with a really proper PDF-output (at least my experience). If you still have problems, can you please post a _small_ PDF-image created with Inkscape to be able to check?
