I'm using LyX 1.6.5 on Windows Vista 32bit and did not attempt to write
the file in a restricted location. What's more it seems to me that the
problem lies with LyX because at the beginning the file got perfectly
compiled and it was only later on when more text and more equations was
added that the problems began.
In addition to that when I cut some parts of the text and paste it into
an empty file sometimes it gets compiled sometimes it doesn't (no clue
what it might depend on).
Thanks for your interest so far
Regards
Marcin

I was looking for some solution to my problem and I found
that it's a recurrent one on other LaTeX-related sites too.
I started writing my degree dissertation in LyX and it was
fine at the onset but then I suddenly fonud out the file
gets no longer compiled. I can produce neither pdf nor dvi
though no error messages are displayed. What could be the
reason for it? One answer to a similiar problem suggested
some bug connected with bibliography but I have none
It would be good having more data, such as type of operating system and others.
My experience in Linux with problems that do not display error messages is that they are associate with problems of read/write permissions.
Have made You some change in folders or configuration that has changed the access permissions?
