I ran Lyx from a terminal by typing the following: /Applications/LyX.app/Contents/MacOS/lyx I then went to the menus of Lyx, opened "myfile.lyx" (which was a LaTeX file I imported into lyx), and selected File, Export, LaTeX (plain) and what follows below was dumped out. Sorry if it's too much. Two other items: 1. I realized I should try an incredibly small file. That actually exported correctly to a LaTeX file. I'm sorry I didn't think to do that earlier. 2. In sending the problematic LaTeX file to a friend who also uses a Mac, he reported a problem with carriage returns. I previously edited the LaTeX file on a Mac using Aquamacs. Could it just be something unusual in my file? Maybe I should try to see if I can zoom in and find some small section of it that's actually causing the problem. I can try that, but it will take some time and I need to run now. I really appreciate your help.
