I see no problem with it. I am including a snapshot of the text where it is 
cited (or actually where it should be cited, behind the comma; had to take it 
out since the pdf file is not compiled with it) and a snapshot of the 
reference (Haupt and Feinleib). Note that the ref (Haupt and Feinleib) is 
cited before and turns up in the ref without problem.

This does indeed cure it. And the pdf file shows the figures, in contrast to a 
draft in the document class, class options custom: draft, where figures are 
shown only by empty boxes. What is the purpose of hyperref option "draft"?
Is it a lower resolution in the pdf output?
