This will be double work. We already have such a list for all packages LyX supports, including a
short description in the Help menu in the file LaTeXConfig.lyx.
Besides this, the TeX catalogue has this information for all! packages:

To find out what package can be used for special purposes that LyX does not yet support, one should
at first have a look at the EmbeddedObjects or Math manual. If one cannot find a solution, the TeX
FAQ describes what packages can be used to solve a certain problem:
