Hi,adding a new reference which is not yet contained in the reference list and refreshing the pdf, closes the pdf-file previously opened and opens and closes the new version 2 or 3 times, but finally there is no pdf-file displayed with a alert prompted. Compiling the LyX-file (almost) immediately opens the pdf again.
My pdf reader is Adobe - just in case this is of interest. If you want me to file a bug, just give me a shout.
