Unfortunately this mail went to lyx-users instead of Linux-users where the
thread was started. Thanks, anyway, Günther, for your answer.

Where could I learn more about such a dummy package?

Wolfgang

just found:
http://www.kryger.de/TeX-Live-for-Debian/

PS:
strange, I can't start equivs as user nor under su, although the newest
version is installed on my Debian

Am I the only one or do I do something wrong? Something else missing?

I think I got it now:
have first to make the control files, and thereafter:

equivs-build tetex-base-dummy.ctl
equivs-build tetex-bin-dummy.ctl
equivs-build tetex-extra-dummy.ctl
