Does pdflatex complain that it cannot determine the sizes of the missing images? This is normal for pdflatex, whereas DVI and PS output just puts arbitrary boxes containing the file names where the images should go. If you want to export using pdflatex, and you cannot obtain the images, you can either substitute other images or delete the images from the LyX file (possibly just substitute their names, in text).
