It sounds to me as if it does not.
LyX has some support for producing DocBook files. Basically, in this mode, LyX is a kind of editor for DocBook. The internal representation and file format are specific to LyX, but there are internal routines that convert it to DocBook (or LaTeX, in various flavors, or XHTML, or plain text). Once it is DocBook, then LyX will, on your behalf, be happy to invoke external programs to produce PDF, or whatever other format you wish. That said, DocBook support lags behind LaTeX and XHTML, simply because we do not presently have anyone actively developing it; i.e., none of our currently active developers are DocBook users. LyX does not have any support, at present, for producing XML with arbitrary DTDs. This would not be terribly difficult to add, but, as I said, I'm not sure anyone currently active in development knows enough about this to do it. I do not myself know what support there is, if any, for importing DocBook files into LyX. Richard
