Color part of text

My first day with Lyx. It is just amazing.

How can I change the colors of just some parts of text? Actually, I found
out that I can 'select' the text I want -> right click -> text style -> 
customized -> color.
Just that it is too much work.
In the shortcuts I found a set-color function that says it should be set to:

    set-color <lyx_name> <x11_name>

I did:

    set-color green green

...but it didn't do anything.

Any help would be appreciated.
