I apologize for not providing details. My real concern was the index (and 
someone in my "real life" had already suggested trying the LyX manuals). The 
figures that don't allow it to compile are the platypus, the mobius, and the 
Escher in the User Guide. It's not a big deal to me, just to say why I hadn't 
tried the index in these documents.

If I need these documents, I usually look in the LyX format anyway.
