Actually, it is as follows: Default: Uses the language package specified in Tools > Preferences Automatic: Selects the most suitable language package for the view/export format you will use. This will use the newer polyglossia package whenever this is suitable (XeTeX backend, non-TeX fonts, all laguages covered by polyglossia) Always Babel: Use babel even when polyglossia would be suitable. The docs need to be corrected. Jürgen
