argmax operator?

Hi I'm trying to add the operator argmax to my LyX document.

I added the following to my preamble:

\DeclareMathOperator*{\argmax}{arg\,max}


But is not working. I write in math mode \argmax but the operator does not
work.


What am I doing wrong?
