Continuous footnote numbering in local layout

I'm using the memoir class in Lyx. The footnote counter resets at the beginning 
of each chapter. I have changed this with 
\usepackage{chngcntr}
\counterwithout{footnote}{chapter}
. But I would like to see the same numbering inside Lyx. Is it possible to add 
something to the Local Layout so as to obtain a continuous numbering for 
footnotes?
