This looks like you do not have the EC fonts, a bitmap font that is used as substitution for CM in T1 encoding (which lyx uses by default). > How can I fix it? Either install the CM-Super package (huge) or (recommended) use the Latin-Modern fonts (or some other vector fonts) either from Document>Settings>Fonts or (for a wider choice) via font packages loaded in the LaTeX preamble.
