I am not aware of any tool that would allow you to *exclude* references
from a bib file. However, you can always *include* references in your
bibliography without having them appear in the text by using the command
\nocite or its equivalent in Lyx's Insert citation dialogue.
For the first option:
Open a ERT inset anywhere in your lyx file and then type \nocite, followed
by a brace, all the keys of the references you want to have in
bibliography only, separated by commas, and a closing brace. It would look
something like : \nocite{myfirstkey,mysecondkey,mythirdkey}
For the second option:
Open your lyx document, choose "Insert>>Citation" from the menu. The
insert citation dialogue window pops up, with all your references listed in
the leftmost pane. Double click on all the references you would like to
include in your bibliography only, then select "Bibliography only" from the
"Ctation style" drop-down menu at the bottom. Click "OK" and you're done.
If you don't see your references in the leftmost pane of the dialogue, that
means you have not properly set up your bibliography. A quick trip to the
Help menu, User's guide, section 6.5 will quickly teach you how to do that.
Cheers,
Stefano
