Two questions.
Question 1. Compared to my former TeX editor Scientific Workplace it takes
quite some time before LyX manages to view pdf. I have both Acrobat Reader X
and Acrobat Pro X. LyX appears not to pick Acrobat Reader X, but Acrobat Pro X.
How is that?
LyX checks the Windows registry what program is currently set to view PDF files and uses this
program. If you don't like this, right-click on a PDF in the Windows file explorer and select "open
with" there select a program and check the option "always open with this program".
--------------
For new users I recommend to start with a default setup of LyX/LaTeX. You are using the special
LaTeX distribution called "TrueTex". This is not specially supported by LyX for Windows (which is
focused on MikTeX but also supports TeXLive). If you don't need TrueTeX I recommend to uninstall it
or in the LyX installation, don't select it.
I recommend that you
1. uninstall LyX _completely_
2. uninstall TrueTeX (if possible)
3. open an Internet connection
4. use the complete version of the latest installer:
ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/2.0.6/LyX-2.0.6-Bundle-2.exe
and reinstall LyX.
This way you get a fully featured setup with all LaTeX packages LyX needs.
Question 2. My LyX dvi viewer doesn't work. When I choose View/Other
Formats/DVI (or key Ctrl+D) I get a series of the following message:
So it seems that your TrueTeX does not provide all features. This is most probably because LaTeX
packages are missing. But as i wrote by reinstalling LyX without TrueTeX you will get the LateX
distribution MikTeX and all necessary LateX packages will automatically be installed from the Internet.
