Hello Rainer,the preset of the IEEEtran class is to use the whole page height. Therefore space is added between the different author info to get the page filled.
You can ignore this because IEEE will reset your paper anyway before it is published. In case you want to change this behavior nevertheless, either
- add vertical space before the first author info - or add protected negative space between the different author info Attached are 3 example LyX files. regards Uwe
