The call should be something like:
  curstring = par.GetWord(&lastpos)
if you correctly defined GetWord as a methor of the LyXParagraph
class. Moreover, I guess you use &lastpos because your definition is
  LString GetWord(int* lastpos)

You should replace it with:
  LString GetWord(int& lastpos)

Then you can use lastpos like a normal int, but its value will be
changed when returning from the GetWord() method.
