I've had Batteries Plus make a couple of packs for me, and they have worked
great. The cost was quite reasonable also, and I knew I was getting fairly
fresh NiCad cells. They helped me bring one of my PX-8s and my HX-20 back
to life.

It's true that the PX-8 won't work without a functional battery. One of the
limitations of the beast.

Once you get it working, you should build a cable to use vfloppy, a virtual
disk drive for the PX-8 that runs under Linux.
