Hi Joe,
I use a parallel-to-serial converter to drive my VT100 (in VT52 emulation) as my external display. I just bought a USB to DB9 serial adaptor cable to connect my Windows 10 desktop to my Model 100, so it will be easy for me to display output using my PC monitor instead. Note that using the parallel port for output gives me the ability to use the Model 100 serial port for networking. Someday I may wire an Android phone with MicroUSB to the Model 100-I have all the needed hardware. After conjuring up software interfacing glue I would be able to use the Android for display (and input, for that matter). I wonder if this could be repurposed (with some ancillary hardware and ROM tweaks) to give the Model 100/200/102 an external VGA display for very little money: http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/serial-vga It accepts serial data and drives a text based VGA display at 800x600 resolution. Additionally, it understands escape sequences to manage simple text windows, etc. It's pretty cool, and it got my wheels turning.
