The problem is you need to switch from ROM land to Option ROM land to read the
Option ROM. Once you're in Option ROM land ROM land (including the BASIC
interpreter) is inaccessible except through a "far call" trampoline.
So it's pretty much a task for machine language or at least a ML subroutine.
