I'm not a Facebook advocate or anything ... I have an account but rarely
use it or pay any attention to it. But I'm just curious what the
aversion is that people have to joining Facebook (really simply out of
curiosity, no judgement intended). I wasn't even aware there was a
group of people with such strong opionions against it.

Facebook, and when they want to share something with folks outside

Rubbish. If the people already on Facebook want to have a group
to talk about a certain topic, they should have that freedom.
Just like the people who are into HAM radio can have discussions
across their own medium, that also excludes people that *DON'T*
have a HAM license.

I can anonymously browse this mailing list without having to
"you must log into blah to continue" from several sources. I
can't do that with this Facebook group. Even with public ones
Facebook keeps badgering me to log in to continue. It's a
walled garden, and has always aspired to be one.
